Team Nova Scotia is a widely expanding group of people right across this province who either volunteer 50 hours in service, assist with events, or fundraise directly for people living with ALS, lead a group or host an event raising over $5,000 for ALS, or who significantly raisedthe profile of the organization.
How Can I Become Part of the Team?
The inaugural team was officially launched on September 21st, 2011. Starting September 30th, 2011 you can register as someone working towards membership on Team Nova Scotia. Once you have recorded and submitted 50 hours of service or fundraising for people living with ALS, led a group or hosted an event raising over $5,000 you can submit your log to the ALS Society for approval and receive your Team Nova Scotia vest at the next annual donor and volunteer recognition event. We hope that when you are out in the community, at fundraising or other ALS events, you will wear this vest proudly, letting people with ALS know that they are loved and supported and encourage others to join our family.
There is a nomination form for people to be considered a part of Team Nova Scotia for significantly raising the profile of the organization. Nominations can be made at any time and will be considered annually in April of each year by the Board.
The 2nd round of inductees to Team Nova Scotia will take place in June 2012 during ALS Awareness Month.
How Does Team Nova Scotia support People Living with ALS and their Families?
Members of Team Nova Scotia can support people living with ALS in a number of different ways.
• Volunteering to assist with various services a person or a family living with ALS might need – drives to medical appointments, errands, shoveling a driveway, building a ramp, etc.
• Raising money which the ALS Society will use towards the provision of equipment in the equipment loan program or research towards learning the cause of and one day a cure for ALS, or important programs such as support groups, etc.
• Volunteering at ALS Events.
Further Recognition
After receiving your inaugural hat Team Nova Scotia members will further be honoured for 1, 3, 5, and 10 years of service and the ultimate Lifetime Membership at 15 years.
After raising $5,000, volunteers are recognized for $15,000, $20,000, and the ultimate Lifetime Membership at $25,000.
